Community Action Response
The Church has been instrumental in setting up a support group for Ollerton and District in view of the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. The group is known as “Community Action Response”. There is a similar group at Warsop. The group is a coalition of local community groups.
The aim of the group is to support people (especially the elderly) who are in isolation or self-isolation due to the outbreak. The group will provide telephone support for those who are lonely and will offer to deliver needed supplies by leaving them on the doorstep.
Since the 23rd March 2020 the project has delivered close to 200,000 meals to people in North Nottinghamshire.
This is all made possible by a group of wonderful active volunteers (or preparing to be active) who have completed a Volunteer Application Form and signed up to our Health and Safety Briefing Procedures. Our volunteers drop leaflets, do shopping, pack hampers, deliver hampers, make follow up phone calls as well as a team of people who recruit and train volunteers, take referrals, manage the volunteers on a day to day basis and not forgetting the admin staff behind the scenes who track all the data, keep us active on social media and keep account of finances.
