Make Lunch
|
The Make Lunch project is a nationwide initiative offering a free hot meal to children from low income families. They work together with the schools in their communities to make sure the families that need it the most get invited. Some Kitchens open every day of every school holiday, others might do a day a week, or pick a week or two to focus on. At some of the Kitchens, the children get involved with making the food. Lifespring offers crafts, games and other activities. It varies from place to place, but the main aim is the same - providing meals to support families on tight budgets.
Lifespring run the 'Make Lunch' project during the school holidays on Monday's & Wednesday's (Ollerton) and Tuesday's (Warsop) between 10:30am - 12:30pm. All children are served a free homemade 2 course meal and parents receive a free bacon cob and refreshments. We run various activities such as arts and crafts and games.
The project is ran by a great team of volunteers and the food is provided by the Oasis Cafe. We run this project entirely from donations.
We have served over 1600 meals to children since we first began the project in 2015!
